So when Our Commandment came, We turned (the towns of sodom in Palestine) upside down, and rained on them stones of baked clay, piled up;

And We turned (the towns of sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.

The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers.

And when Our Messengers came to Ibrahim (Abraham) with the glad tidings they said: "Verily, we are going to destroy the people of this [Lout's (Lot's)] town (i.e. the town of sodom in Palestine) truly, its people have been Zalimun [wrong-doers, polytheists and disobedient to Allah, and have also belied their Messenger Lout (Lot)]."

Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir].

And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent].
